Objective: The objective of the activity is to design, manufacture and test a medium power (40-80W) class Ka-band Microwave Power Module (Electronic Power Conditioner (EPC), Lineariser, Channel Amplifier and Travelling Wave Tube (TWT)) for series production to meet the requirements of high power amplifiers for future large constellations and Very High Throughput Satellites. Targeted Improvements: Enabling of a class of Microwave Power Modules not existing today in Europe meeting the mass, size and performance requirementsfor future constellations following a "design to produce" approach. Description: Future satellite constellations in Non-Geostationary Orbit (NGSO) require highly integrated, high power amplifiers in the 40-80W power class designed for series production with high manufacturing yield and modularised electronic power conditioning (EPC), lineariser and channel amplifier (LCAMP) functional buildingblocks. Ka-band 40-80W class LCAMP Traveling Wave Tube Amplifier (TWTA) Microwave Power Modules (MPM) available today offer very high performance but do not meet series production requirements since they are manufactured and tested to meet the highest reliabilityfor GSO satellite life times. On the other hand, Solid State Power Amplifier (SSPA) technology is able to fulfil series productionrequirements, but does not achieve the required power added efficiency of at least 50%. This activity is to design, manufacture andtestan engineering model of a 40-80W class, Ka-band Microwave Power Module with at least 50% power added efficiency and fulfillingseries production requirements.
